Untitled (Blue Lake)
If Dicky were a painter he would be known as a colourist. He has an incredible understanding of light and how it plays with the colours in Nature. At exhibitions viewers are always asking if the images are backlit as Dicky's extraordinary ability to capture light in his images is second to none. This alluring image is of Padam Lake inside Ranthambhore National Park in India. It shows a timeless piece of architecture, an old Masjid, on an island that for much of the year is inaccessible and surrounded by water. In the tree in the left of the image the black birds are cormorants, in the centre of the composition is a white egret and at the water's edge are wooly-necked storks. Taken early morning Dicky's image offers a sense of tranquility for us to linger in.
